Exhibition text
This piece shows that everyone on earth belongs here for a reason and that they all matter. I wanted to create this piece because of the experiences I had and what I have seen. This piece shows how I see people and I am very connected to this piece. I have seen people get judged because of what they look like and who they are. I have also been judged because of the way I am. I wanted to show people that it doesn't matter who you are. Everyone matters. My piece is very special to me and I wanted to people to see that life matters and everyone matters no matter what they look like or who they are.
Inspiration
I don't have an artist because I wanted to focus in a culture and how people are as equal as someone else. I wanted my piece to connect with personal and global issues. My piece is showing the relationship between people and the earth. I wanted mine to tie around cultures because there are different cultures here and not everyone accepts them. Some cultures have to hide because they dont want people to hate them or attack them. Cultures should be able to express themselves and not have people attack them or hate what the culture is. My inspiration comes behind what I have seen and what people I know have experienced.
Planning
For my piece I decided I wanted to do something with hand and the earth. I didn't know what I wanted to do so I made a couple of sketches. I wanted to base my piece around how everyone is equal and everyone matter.
Process
I decided to pick a bright color for my background to make sure my hands and the earth stood out. I wanted to use blue and purple because those colors are the galaxy and us as people make up this earth. I layered on the hand prints because there are so mang peopel on earth and I wanted it to look like there were many hands on the canvas. I let the hand prints dry before I layered a new set on. I wanted to make sure there were enough hand to make it look like there were many people. I wanted to have enough hands to cover some of the yellow but also to show some yellow so the hands and earth stood out.
Reflection
Overall I like the way this piece turned out. I like the way it turned out because many people can make their own meaning for this piece and it doesnt just have to be mine. I like the idea of using a bright color in the back and putting the earth in the middle because we are what makes the earth. My piece is something that ment a lot to me because of the reason i did it. I wanted to show people that everyone matter and that what i did. I made a piece that showed everyone makes up the earth and no one should feel less.
