Decisions
Exhibition Text
Decisions is a digital picture to show that people who are always being judged because of their body, sometimes have to chose what they want. I wanted to show that people are always having to make a decision when it comes to their body and some decisions can hurt them. I wanted to relate this to how the community affects other people and the decisions they make. This piece captures the meaning of a decision.
Meaning
The meaning behind my picture is that the community tells people how to look and that they should lose weight or gain weight. I wanted to make the this to show how the community tell people what to do. The community wants people to look the way they want and be a certain weight. The community wants people to be the way the media shows people. The media shows people who are skinny and who have perfect bodies. Media depicts people to be beautiful and have perfect bodies.
Planning
My inspiration is not an artist but the community and how it affects other people. I started out by planning the way I wanted to make this piece. Some cultures want their women to be a certain size and look a certain way and women feel like they have to do that in order to have a good future. People feel like they have to make themselves look a certain way because people tell them how to look and cultures want people to look good to show that they are beautiful or strong. This generation is stuck on body and the way people present themselves. People want other people to look a certain way because they wanted to look like that or they can't see other people look "ugly." I used the world and cultures as my inspiration for this piece. I decided to take a piece of cake and some bones and place them in my hands. While they were in my hands I had my sister take multiple pictures to see what placement I like with the props. I decided to chose the picture that had my hands as the main focus. I wanted to blur out the background to make my hands and the objects stand out more.
Process
First step was to find what I wanted to use for the two decisions. I then was able to find out how I wanted to place them and the way I wanted my hands to look. I was the able to take multiple picture to see which position I wanted to camera and hands to be. After I took multiple pictures I was able to go on a photo shop app and blur out the background to make my hands and the two objects the center of attention. I was able to work on the image using my phone with a photo shop app.
Reflection
Overall I feel like I could add more symbols to the piece but at this point I'm happy with what I have. I could of got closer to my hands and the objects to blur out the background more. This piece to me shows the point I am trying to get across and how important the topic is to certain people. I feel like my piece captures the meaning I am trying to get across and it doesn't go to far with the objects. If I had to change something I would change the way I blurred out the background and get close to my hands to make sure I didn't have anything showing besides the hands and the objects. If I were to change something I would change to background and the way I blurred it. I would put a background as a simple color so the main focus would be on the objects instead of the background and the objects.

My inspiration focused on how society sees people and how they judge people for the way they look. I feel like my piece shows how society jugdes people and makes them feel like they have a constant decision to make.
